This piece is the first of three large canvases all of which tell a story through the application and redaction of multiple images laid on top of each other.  The decision to incorporate language into the image was taken to allow the two artistic mediums to work symbiotically each offering addition and support to the other as intrinsic elements of the text.  Insights into the history of the piece are shown through the dove shaped 'windows' through which dictated both the shape and title of the piece.  Throughout the piece I have used different methods of paint and material application to weave a sense of the passage of time.  In each of these three paintings I have chosen to wrap the central image in a border that is taken from medieval masonry and that, combined with the artistic process, gives the piece a feeling of age and history.
