2019 Challenge

This year I have

challenged myself to

paint 1 painting

per week in the

style of one of the

historical Top 100

artists.  I am trying to

use the techniques, medium and colours that they used but the goal is to refrain from copying them.  The time restriction of 1 week puts limitations on the oil painting and those artists who produced very detailed works

1 week - 1 artist

Quiet Beauty

Nova Scotia Lilies

Week 28 - Georgia O'Keefe (1887 -1986)

"I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life - and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do."

"I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for."

"Nobody sees a flower - really - it is so small it takes time - we haven't time - and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time."

Blossoming

TBD

Week 27 - Georges Seurat (1859 - 1891)

“Art is harmony.  Harmony is the analogy of contrary and of similar elements of tone, of colour and of line, conditioned by the dominate key, and under the influence of a particular light, in gay, calm, or sad combinations.”

"Painting is the art of hollowing a surface."

I See

I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best."

"I hope the leaving is joyful; and I hope never to return."
