And there was frost...

There was frost on the deck this morning My Love.
A winter coat of crystalline fur
Covering the wood with premonition of winter.
I shuffled carefully to My Spot at the end of the empty pool,
And sat and stretched,
Feeling muscles tense and release their way
Into the solo start of my day.
The sun was high.
Flying through a cloudless sky,
I reached for it
At its zenith over my hatless head.
Cold fingers empty, it was instead
Captured in a million shards of light
Lazily floating on the cooling depths
Which sighed below me,
Fronded, quiet and peaceful
Belying fearsome strength.
She whispered her way into my angled view.
Gliding silently,
Mirrored in perfect harmony below.
I watched her as she danced and swirled,
Dipped and soared,
Keeping perfect time with her now rippled twin.
There were moments when the two appeared conjoined
Kissing...
At water's edge.
Until she made her choice
Slicing down to break her fast.
Sit up... nearly finished...
A seal meandered across my line of sight
Dark aubergine,
Glistening.
He lifted his whiskered face to judge,
With eyes as old as time,
Then slid back into the unseen
Unmoved by God's beauty above.
Balance...
Kemo brings a stick
Mangled...
Wet...
Shedding bark.
Places it reverently at my knee
Watching me intently.
He backs away and whines for me to play.
Jameela basking in November sun
Stirs indulgently
Then scratches inelegantly
Jingling her tags with the effort
Breakfast time?
Morning sounds are starting now
The sound of traffic darts across the water
Building
As the clock ticks on.
The ballet is over... it is time to begin.
