Your Word says 'I Love You.'
But I am blocked and resistant,
I cannot feel You through my pain.
Your Word says 'Trust Me.'
But I ache and hold onto the blame.
I slide on firm ground
Fighting the urge to flee.
You tell me You won't hurt me
But I have yet to feel that truth,
You promise me a future
But that fails to soothe
As I flail in the deep waters of life.
Look to Me you say...
Look at the cross.
Look at My scars
And the tears that I cried.
Me! Your Lord and Saviour
It was for you that I died!
I see you My child.
Give Me your pain.
And when you cry out
'Please God not again!'
I hear you.
I see you.
I feel your sadness, guilt and shame.
One day you will see Me
And sit by My side.
I will restore you.
And those tears that you have cried,
Will water a garden;
Filled with poppy and rose,
With graceful iris and fragrant peony,
Under sun filled sky of Azure blue.
And the ocean that soothes
Your broken soul
Will bring a bouquet of joy
As you finally, finally let go
And ascend your place.
Sweet Child of Mine,
I Love You
